Habit streak calculator
how far you’ve come, and what’s next.

Enter the day your current streak started to see how many days it has run and when you will reach 30, 66, 100, and 365 days. Then check your consistency, the number that survives a missed day.

Streak and milestone calculator

For a habit you do every day. The start date counts as Day 1.

    How the streak calculator counts

A streak is the number of days in a row you completed a habit. The calculator counts the start date as Day 1 and counts forward to today.

    • If you have done the habit today, today is included. A streak that started yesterday is 2 days.
    • If you haven’t done it yet, the streak runs to yesterday. It isn’t broken until today is over.
    • Milestone dates are the day you will reach each number if you keep going every day. Day 30 of a streak that started on the 1st is the 30th.

For habits on a schedule, such as the gym on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a daily streak is the wrong measure. Use the consistency calculator instead, or read how to use a habit tracker to set up a weekly schedule.

Streak or consistency: which matters more?

Streaks are motivating because they are easy to see and easy to extend. Their weakness is that one missed day sends the number back to zero, which can make a good month feel like a failure.

Consistency is the share of planned days you completed. It moves slowly: 29 out of 30 days is 97%, even if the missed day was yesterday. Watching both gives you the momentum of a streak without the all-or-nothing pressure. That is the approach behind Productify’s streak tracking, which keeps your full history when a run ends.

    What the streak milestones mean

    MilestoneWhat it tells you
7 daysYou have fitted the habit into a full week, including the weekend.
21 daysA popular target. There is no evidence that habits form in 21 days, but three weeks is a fair test of your routine.
30 daysA month-long trial and a good point to review. The 30-day habit tracker is built around it.
66 daysThe median time for a behavior to feel automatic in the best-known study. Individual estimates ranged from 18 to 254 days.
90 daysAbout a season of practice. The Productify app marks 7, 30, and 90 days with a quiet acknowledgment.
100 and 365 daysPersonal records rather than scientific thresholds. By now the question is less “can I keep going?” and more “is this still the right habit?”

The research behind the 66-day figure is covered in how long it takes to build a habit. The short version: automaticity grows gradually, and one missed day did not materially affect it.

How to protect a streak without making it fragile

    • Define a minimum version. Two minutes of stretching or one page of a book still counts on a bad day.
    • Decide what counts before you start, so you don’t negotiate with yourself at 11 p.m.
    • Try not to miss twice in a row. One miss is noise. Two is the start of a new pattern.
    • Keep a record you can see, such as a printable habit tracker, a year in pixels, or an app with reminders.

    Habit streak questions

Count the consecutive days you completed the habit, starting from the first day of the current run. If you started on the 1st and have done it every day through the 10th, your streak is 10 days. The calculator counts the start date as Day 1 and includes today only if you have already done the habit.

A streak counts days in a row, so a missed day ends the current run. Your work is not lost, though. Consistency, the share of planned days you completed, barely moves after one miss: 29 out of 30 days is still 97%. Pick up again the next day.

There is no fixed number. In the best-known study, the median time for a behavior to feel automatic was about 66 days, with individual estimates from 18 to 254 days. See how long it takes to build a habit for the details.

The streak calculator assumes a daily habit. For habits you plan on some days only, such as three workouts a week, use the consistency calculator: enter the number of planned days and the number you completed.
